“Not your average beauty”<\/strong> is the designer jewelry collection we want to talk about today.<\/span><\/p>\n

The collection is the result of the imagination of the artist Joanne Tan<\/strong>, originally from Malaysia<\/strong>, now London<\/strong> “acquired”.<\/span><\/p>\n

She began studying science and then moved to London<\/strong> at the age of 17 to study art<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Her passion for jewellery began to materialise during his university studies at Central Saint Martins,<\/strong> where she recently graduated.<\/span><\/p>\n

It was to be expected… given the clear influence of the aesthetics of Alexander McQueen<\/strong> in her creations!<\/span><\/p>\n

“Not your average beauty”<\/strong> is not a casual name, it refers to the artist\u2019s will to achieve something that goes against years and years of stereotypical beauties<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Thus jewels<\/strong> are born that adorn the face in a different way from those to which we are accustomed, accentuating the nose<\/strong>, which is usually not “adorned” except with piercings<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The latter were a huge source of inspiration for Joanne T.<\/span><\/p>\n

“To pierce<\/strong>” in English means:\u00a0penetrating<\/strong>, tearing.<\/span> The practice of piercing the skin to adorn it finds its origins in tribal customs<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The piercings served not only from the ornamental point of view, but they had a beneficial function and removed the evil<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

For this reason, the luxurious jewels of Joanne T.<\/strong> have a tribal character, at times ancestral.<\/span><\/p>\n

Joanne\u2019s collection is not just a collection of luxury jewelry<\/strong>, it represents a bitter critique of modern society, obsessed with proportionate beauty canons and cosmetic surgery.<\/span><\/p>\n

We have lost naturalness and this designer<\/strong> wants to find it in the “defects<\/strong>“, which must be accentuated and not hidden, because they distinguish us as human beings<\/strong>…and not plastic dolls!<\/span><\/p>\n

These facial ornaments are made of 18K gold<\/strong> and embellished with small pearls <\/strong>and diamonds<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

All of them have been designed to suit both an Asian <\/strong>and a Western face<\/strong>, just to underline the fact that harmony<\/strong> is a universal concept that transcends skin color and somatic traits.<\/span><\/p>\n
