Together with his two friends Silvia Giovanardi and Victor Santiago, Ward wants to restore a sustainable voice in a brand that is not afraid to revolutionize the standardized and unethical canons of the textile industry. WRAD was born, a brand that reveals behind the scenes of the fashion system. We are often unaware of what can be hidden behind a simple shirt. We don’t ask ourselves questions and this is perhaps our biggest problem. Matteo with his brand wants to rewrite the history of our clothing. It offers us a new vision that is more aware and above all more attentive to environmental and human impacts. Her creations celebrate sustainable thinking, the spokesperson for a change that involves not only our lives, but also everything around us.

The WRAD brand thinks outside the fashion system and tells a strong and concrete message capable of restoring the right value to the objects that surround us. The shirts of the Graphi-tee collection are made with organic cotton and exploit the dyeing process of the fabrics with the graphite powder recovered from the waste of industrial production. This is not a simple organic cotton shirt, but a real revolution that exploits the potential of the regenerative economy. Graphi-tee becomes a success story, so much so that in July 2017 it won the prestigious RedDot Design Award “Best of the Best 2017” for sustainable innovation in the fashion sector.

The eco-sustainable character of the brand is distinguished by the desire to create a long-term project with solutions capable of opening up to a more transparent and respectful vision. WRAD is not just a simple brand, but a real call to action. An inspiration that can guide us to a different lifestyle. It is therefore a vision that generates more awareness about what we dress everyday.

Matteo’s shirt arrived in 2019 in the Salvatore Ferragamo museum with the Sustainable Thinking exhibition. A project that discovers a face of fashion without masks: it is authentic and in search of a new identity, a new way of being and not just of appearing.

We grew up in a system designed by others and defined by unethical canons, but we can be able to rethink and redesign it with a look to the future. We can be, like Matteo, rebels with a cause in order to be capable of changing things with the force of our choices.

Discover also the creative vision of Balenciaga that denounces the worrying climate changes with its autumn-winter collection 2020.

Can a t-shirt change the world?
