{"id":129258,"date":"2018-12-04T15:31:07","date_gmt":"2018-12-04T13:31:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.waitfashion.com\/uptown-vs-downtown-for-alexander-wangs-fall-2019\/"},"modified":"2018-12-04T15:31:07","modified_gmt":"2018-12-04T13:31:07","slug":"uptown-vs-downtown-for-alexander-wangs-fall-2019","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.waitfashion.com\/en\/uptown-vs-downtown-for-alexander-wangs-fall-2019\/","title":{"rendered":"Uptown VS Downtown for Alexander Wang&#8217;s Fall 2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As a good New York Fashion Week outsider, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.waitfashion.com\/en\/alexander-wang-reveals-its-new-logo\/\"><strong>Alexander Wang<\/strong><\/a> has just presented his <strong>&#8220;Collection 2&#8221; for the Fall 2019<\/strong> season, bringing the eternal New York diatribe between <strong>Uptown and Downtown<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-59580\" src=\"\/\/www.waitfashion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/ALE0184.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"2732\" height=\"4098\" data-id=\"59580\" \/><\/p>\n<p>On the one hand we find the wealth of the <strong>Uptown girls<\/strong> (in the northern part of Manhattan) with a modest style that refers to Carolyn Bessette Kennedy, wife of Kennedy scion John Fitzgerald Kennedy Jr., with straight hair, in order adorned by a circlet, on the other hand, the <strong>Downtown girls<\/strong> (the area further south of Manhattan) appear with their pigtails and a freer and jaunty style. <strong>The dichotomy between the so-called good girl and the rebel was clearly visible in looks, long dresses for a more classic style and leather, shorts, leopard jackets for a less conformist style<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-59581\" src=\"\/\/www.waitfashion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/ALE0940.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"2732\" height=\"4098\" data-id=\"59581\" \/><\/p>\n<p>But it does not end here. On the catwalk, the designer also shows some<strong> strong references to his time in college in some great preppy moments<\/strong> with polo shirts built entirely with colored safety pins and soft ribbed sweaters paired with long leather skirts or oversized rugby shirts with studded crests and boxer shorts pinstripes.<br \/>\nHowever, it is a case of a series of articles that have a long history in American fashion, from Bill Blass to Perry Ellis to Marc Jacobs, and I suspect that Wang, in his own way, is paying homage to you.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-59582\" src=\"\/\/www.waitfashion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/ALE1044.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"2732\" height=\"4098\" data-id=\"59582\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Wang has combined everything in a perfect 80s style<\/strong>, from tweed, to lace, to leather, to denim to create a chic wardrobe that has that casual and elusive quality. The tailor was perfect. Especially on trench coats and blazers (both women&#8217;s and men&#8217;s) that show more weighted shoulders than they should, for that casually oversized sensation.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-59583\" src=\"\/\/www.waitfashion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/ALE1276.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"2732\" height=\"4098\" data-id=\"59583\" \/><\/p>\n<p>However, there are also looks of an <strong>individualistic<\/strong> nature composed of jackets and tuxedo shirts that I can seem rather bold, but never as much as the<strong> fetishist catsuit made of black lace<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/OZlsoLh8u4E\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As a good New York Fashion Week outsider, Alexander Wang has just presented his &#8220;Collection 2&#8221; for the Fall 2019 season, bringing the eternal New York diatribe between Uptown and Downtown.
