Virgil Abloh imagines the future of fashion in the year that will mark Louis Vuitton‘s 200th anniversary.
The Louis Vuitton 2054 project, which takes its name from the merger of the current century with 1854 (the year the fashion house was founded), reaches its second chapter with spring/summer 2021.
The collection, launched for the first time in 2019 as a luxury lifestyle line dedicated to performance and technology, this time projects itself into the future, imagining the evolution of men’s clothing. The result? A capsule collection of fourteen pieces that redefines the codes of sportswear and urbanwear, experimenting with functional fashion and creating contemporary and adaptable garments.
For the launch of the collection, LV has conceived a fashion story created in collaboration with the photographer Jean-Vincent Simonet, which takes us into scenarios of the future through beams of ultraviolet lights and iridescent textures.
In this evocative atmosphere, items with transformable functionality are highlighted, such as shirts that become bags and jackets with pockets and removable inserts. All pieces in the collection feature three-dimensional Louis Vuitton logos and a trompe l’oeil version of the maison’s classic monogram.
We won’t have to wait until 2054 to buy the collection, which is already available on the Louis Vuitton online shop.
