Previewed at the Spring / Summer 2021 fashion show, here is the new Crochet sneaker by Valentino Garavani!

It is not always easy to find the right balance between tradition and avant-garde, to ensure that the two apparently opposite worlds manage to meet and find perfect harmony. Yet, the creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli, equipped with his unmistakable experimental vision, has succeeded. The new Crochet SS21 sneaker is, in fact, exemplary in this sense, demonstrating how couture craftsmanship can marry with the contemporary appeal of streetwear. Because of course we are talking about tradition if to make the new proposal of the Valentino maison special, it is an ancient manual processing technique, almost millennial, handed down to us by our grandmothers.

Made in Italy with ribbons in knotted tubular fabric, the hand-made macramé upper takes 10 hours of work through the use of 2 crochet needles, 88 needles fixed on the flat model and 100 meters of thread. The mesh is then joined to the sole through holes in the rubber from which the laces are passed. 3 layers of resin and 20 different processing techniques for the assembly, give the whole design greater resistance. Complete the look: the suede leather label with the Valentino Garavani rubber logo on the tongue and the VLogo Signature detail on the heel.

But it doesn’t end there because the macrame sneakers were launched in four bright shades ranging from bright yellow to brick red, from black to light gray. Perfect for the spring season, they can already be purchased on the official Valentino website at a price of € 790.
