Supreme introduces another collection for Fall 2019, this time dedicated to one of the most famous rock bands of the 60s, the Velvet Underground.
Led by songwriter and guitarist Lou Reed, the band was known for its counter-cultural appeal. The Velvet Underground had a distinct sound that pushed them into the hearts and minds of fans during the mid-1960s.
Originally founded in 1964, the band joined forces when Lou Reed met John Cale. Reed at that time was an internal composer at the Pickwick Records pop-rock song factory where he wrote songs about addictions, androgyny and redemption. Reed’s lyrics were therefore perfect for Cale’s art that thrived on dissonance and improvisation. Their experimental sound, together with guitarist Morrison and drummer Tucker later led to the definitive creation of the band.
For many fans, the Velvet Underground have definitely changed rock music.
This is why Supreme’s FW19 collection pays tribute to the band by presenting the original works of art of their discography.
The main products in the range include a rayon shirt, t-shirts, hooded sweatshirts and ringer tees.
The Supreme x The Velvet Underground range will be available in stores at Supreme offices in New York, Brooklyn, Los Angeles, London, Paris and online starting September 19th. Japan will see the release on September 21st.
