The world of fashion and luxury is always greener! Adidas launches the “Stan Smith Mylo”, an important novelty in the field of biotechnology.
The new biotechnology “Mylo“, provides for the creation of materials and skins derived from the roots of mushrooms, is a small revolution that however can contribute greatly to an increasingly environmentally sustainable future. The race of Adidas towards a production 100% plastic free continues at a fast pace.
Amy Jones Vaterlaus, global head of future of Adidas, by 2024 aims to make all its sneakers without any plastic. What we see today, is just a concept, but that will soon become a reality and we bet that we will hear about “Mylo” in many other circumstances, brands and creations.
“We have to learn to work with and not against nature and put all our efforts to find innovative solutions created responsibly with resources that are renewed at a sustainable pace.”
The prototype is the result of the partnership with Bolt Threads, a Californian company engaged in research of innovative materials and 100% green. The innovative material, already used by ecofashion expert Stella Mccartney and the Kering group, is obtained from “mycelium“, the set of fibres that make up the deep roots of a fungus. This complex fibre mix creates a material that is very similar to leather, versatile, elastic and obviously not harmful to the environment.
We know, eco-sustainability is one of the focal points of luxury and fashion today. What is important is that it is not just a passing fashion, but that it becomes a real vision of doing business. In the age of fastfashion, of marketplaces and of wanting everything and immediately whatever it involves, the desire and above all the commitment of brands and consumers towards a more sustainable future and attentive to the protection of the environment is fortunately increasingly widespread. Small or large gestures, each of us can make a difference.
