Moncler and Rick Owens together to represent the intimacy and authenticity of “dynamic” fashion.
In February, the fashion world was overwhelmed by news of a new and innovative collaboration between Moncler and Rick Owens. The project, which is a detachment from the Genius line of Remo Ruffini’s brand, has shown his intentions of going beyond his boundaries and take on a new challenge, with a more conceptual and creative flavor. A real journey into the discovery of ideas and independent creation.
The launch of the capsule collection fully reflected the creative and unconventional nature of the American designer and represented the Avant-garde position of Moncler. A strict NO to luxurious displays and curated images, the idea was to create “fashion on the move” with a Moncler tour bus. The bus took designer Rick Owens and his wife Michèle Lamy on a trip to the west coast of the United States. Together, they took a roadtrip from Los Angeles to Michael Heizer‘s ranch in Nevada. The purpose of the trip was to see a monumental work of land art on which the artist has been working for 48 years.
The result is a story of authenticity and intimacy, a reflection of relationships and privacy.
A tour bus was certainly an effective means of displaying the entire dynamic of the collaboration, but it is the ready-to-wear pieces that fully represent the heart and union of these two realities.
Rick Owens has left a distinctive mark with his unmistakable sculptural style, made of soft shapes and pointed silhouettes. Moreover, the collection, as he said in an interview, is “a synthesis of the unique fusion of glamour and brutalism”.
A palette in shades of silver, powder pink and black is reflected in a series of garments for men and women designed for the FW 20 season. Present are the iiconic puffer jackets sided by new entries and reinterpretations such as moon boots and raincoats.
#MONCLERRICKOWENS is available online on selected retailers such as Farfetch.
