Today the MeetTheBrand lounge hosts Gaia Brivio, founder of Gea Shop. A beauty shop whose proposals are sustainable in every respect.
Hi Gaia, thanks to accept my invitation. When did you start developing an interest in the field of cosmetics, in this case Plastic-Free?
It all started out of a need to study in the field of sustainable products in a broad sense, rather than for cosmetics itself. In fact, I am passionate about cosmetics, but not only, also about lifestyle and other areas, always and in any case in a sustainable way.
How and when was Gea Shop born?
The idea, specifically, was born on August 26, 2019, during a car trip from Mallorca to Milan. From the day after I started working on the project of the physical shop in the historic center of Como, which I actually opened on 8 December 2019. Following the Pandemic, in March 2020 I closed the physical shop and opened the online shop. I was moved only and only by the love for the sea, nothing more commonplace, but nothing stronger.

What was the path you had to follow to achieve the reality that we see now?
I did not study marketing, but I studied Communication and all in all it served a lot, including speaking 3 languages, without which I would not have been able to relate and create solid contacts with foreign companies to import products never marketed before on the Italian market. I studied without realizing it while I was working. To be honest, I don’t even know how I got to know what I had to do. It was all very personal and spontaneous: I just started doing what I still do and I told it on Instagram. That is, research and first-hand testing of sustainable brands in Europe – gradually a community has been created that is interested and inspired by what I do and which acquires an increasingly sustainable lifestyle.
How the shopping experience in your store is constituted online?
It is a very simple online shop: it is divided into categories, where you can find different types of products, which we hope to be able to implement more and more, to enrich the variety and to be able to respond to the different needs of consumers.

What do you think of the beauty world today?
As for Italy, I believe it should do more to be sustainable. From this point of view, compared to the rest of Europe, we are in Prehistory.
What would you say to those who still don’t know you? What do you distinguishes?
I would certainly say that one of the best investments you can make for your life and that of your children in the future is to make a change in your lifestyle, to adopt one that is more attentive to the needs of the planet we live in. Gea Shop suggests how and does research for you. The game is practically done, the willingness to replace old habits is enough to immediately feel better.
