«Gavor was born to express themselves and their own body with freedom and personality.»
This is the first sentence that can be read on the official website of the brand founded by Josephine Lossou Gavor, designer of Guinean – Togolese origin. Her studies began in a professional fashion institute in Italy, then continued in Paris, in the Atelier Chardon Savard. She then decided to start her own project, combining her passion for fashion with the desire to represent the new generations.
Gavor is an independent brand specialized in Limited Edition collections and Seasonless clothing. The line is composed mainly of streetwear pieces and sartorial garments inspired by music and art, with a strong appeal to African culture. Each product is entirely hand-made, also providing the possibility of making custom orders.
What makes Gavor unique is its genderless imprint. «With the cancellation of the division “for him” and “for her” I want to celebrate the free expression of every gender identity by creating a space where you feel free to choose and to be» says Josephine.
Through her garments, the designer aligns herself with the gender fluid movement and sends a message of body positivity. Her creations are the result of a new conception of fashion in which bodies no longer have to adapt to clothes, but the opposite. Thus, the apparel becomes a way of expression, a statement of one’s identity and no longer simple frivolous aesthetic. A clear and important message lies behind the creative idea of the artist: the acceptance of themselves and the others.
