Daniel Arsham is an american artist who was born in Miami, grown up in Cleveland but living and work in New York and he defines himself as an ” archaeologist of the future ” who is famous for the multiple and original application of his art. This time he shocked us with an incredible collaboration with Dior and its director, Kim Jones, who chose to celebrate Monsieur Dior throught a reinterpretation of the iconic logo using his “disentegration” tecnique.
The collaboration has been presented to the public during the Dior SS20 fashion show, just before the lockdown stocked all the world. He took inspiration from the history of the Mason and, in particular, using the logo the bag of the moment “ the Dior Saddle”, Arsham made a fusion between the story of the fashion house and a futuristic look, applied even on the script. In collaboration with the creative directors of the brand Hajime Sorayama, Raymond Pettibon and Kaws created the print of fake Dior’s “newspapers” made only for the spring-summer Haute-Couture 2020.
As a colorblind Arsham discovered the true colors in the last years, using special glasses, his masterpieces become true chromatic “explorations”, linking photography, sculture, and his first love: architecture, just like Monsieur Dior Arsham wanted to become an architect . The use of pink and its pastel declinations transports the audience in a romantic and dreamy atmosphere that reminds a Wes Anderson’s movie.
The masterpieces called “Future Relics” celebrate the first vocation of Dior as a gallerist and some of his personal objects have been transformed in precious relics. Arsham’s masterpieces are only available in boutique and only under prenotation.
