It’s called “Afterworld: The Age of Tomorrow” and on December 6th it will throw us into 2031.

We had anticipated it: when we talk about reinventing ourselves, especially in a historical moment like this, made up of social distances, unattainable fashion weeks and digital moments, fashion would have pushed more and more towards creativity, innovation, but above all avantgarde.
And in the case of Balenciaga, we shouldn’t be surprised if the idea is the fruit of a revolutionary like Demna Gvasalia.
The creative director of the maison had already conquered us during Paris Fashion Week, when he showed the models on a catwalk filled with water, which reflected an apocalyptic scene to denounce the dramatic situation of global warming.
On this occasion, however, Gvasalia chooses digital and a theme that for us human beings is intangible and mysterious: the destiny. The video game, through an avatar, will take us on an interactive journey set in 2031 and in a place that, although it may seems in decline, will show us “the slow return to a healthier balance between nature and industry.”
Even if the fashion-gaming combination may not be an absolute novelty, one thing is now evident in the world of luxury and Gvasalia himself declared it as well: “Fashion has become a list of things to do. I feel the need to try to do it differently.”
