Vi piacerebbe una collaborazione tra Hermès e Vans? Sono sicuro che facendo questa domanda ai rispettivi clienti della maison francese e del produttore di sneakers la risposta sarebbe “no”, visto che sono teoricamente agli antipodi. Grazie ad una precisa richiesta di Robert Verdi oggi questo insolito binomio diventa realtà. Lo style expert americano ha chiesto a Vans di produrre le sue famose slip-on usando i foulard in seta Hermes della sua collezione personale, ed ecco i risultato: veramente una bomba, “quando gli opposti si attraggono”. Sfortunatamente faranno bella mostra solo nella sua collezione privata, per ora…

Would you like a collaboration beetwen Hermès and Vans? I’m sure that, asking the relative customer of the french maison and of the sneakers’ producer this question, the answer would be “no”, considering that are worlds apart. Thanks to a Robert Verdi‘s specific request, today this unusual couple becomes reality. The american style expert has asked Vans to produce its famouse slips using Hermes’ foulard, which belong to his personal collection. Here there are the results: really a bomb, “when the opposites attract each other”. Unfortunately they will take part in his privat collection only, at least in this moment.

VANS per la primavera ha presentato un nuovo modello di sneakers dal nome ALOMAR, il look si rifà molto alle chukka boot, ma con un pizzico di fashion in più.  Ormai le sneakers stanno prendendo la via “high” e Vans lo sa bene. Prodotta con materiali di prima qualità e con una suola in EVA che ne aumenta il comfort. Ma cosa diranno gli amanti del brand americano, per lo più del genere indie. Leggendo alcune recensioni si lamentano del fatto che Vans nato come brand alternativo si stia conformizzando troppo al mercato “pop”.  Forse una necessità dettata anche dalla crisi di questo mercato. Io sono dell’idea che uno deve rimanere unito ai propri valori, perchè sono quelli che rendono unici un qualcosa.

VANS for spring presented a new model of sneakers named Alomar, the look goes back to the very chukka boot, but with a little fashion elements. The sneakers are now taking the way “high” and Vans knows. Made with premium materials and an EVA midsole that increases the comfort. But what will think the lovers of the American brand, mostly of the indie genre. Reading some reviews, they complain that Vans was born as an alternative brand and now it’s  adapting to the ‘pop’ market , Maybe even a necessity dictated by the crisis in this market. I am convinced that one must remain united to their own values, because they are the ones who make something unique.

Qualche anno fa Bottega Veneta mi faceva letterlamente XXXXXX. E invece devo dire che da un paio di stagioni (lo ammetto, sono ignorante, devo approfondire per capire se è cambiato direttore creativo) i prodotti sono moderni, spesso soprendenti e con un tocco moderno e a volte addirittura futuristico, sapendo intrecciare a materiali e linee, come suggerisce il nome e in maniera anche ‘letteralmente’ la migliore esperienza artigianale. A few years ago Bottega Veneta made me litterally XXXX. But I must say that from a couple of seasons (I admit, I’m ignorant, I have to investigate to see if it has changed the creative director ) products are fresh, contemporary, surprising and often with a modern touch and sometimes even futuristic, being able to weave at modern fabrics and lines, as the name suggests and even in a ‘literally’ way, the best artisan experience. So, here’s these sneakers : a mix between a Vans and a woven hand-made leather shoe. Thumbs up. Foto via HS.
